Upon observing our nocturnal, vinyl fetishist bredren, I've learned that these DJ creatures are very much in tune with time and energy... Aligned and "in the groove" if you will.
Most of my DJ bredren are some interesting characters to say the least... but they seem to know what people wanna hear or what sounds would be best suited for any given moment...
With this said, if I, OddsaDaMonsta of 2008 was transported back in time as a DJ on a radio station in 1965 spinning music on a Sunday afternoon, I would play the following songs (from the future) to keep listeners trippin. Keep in mind it's CRM time and I'd Fa SHO keep the Civil Rights Movement moving! All abooooaaard!!!
1. John Coltrane: Alabama (for 4 little girls in a church in Birmingham two years ago: on September 15, 1963)
2. Gil Scott-Heron: Home is Where the Hatred Is (cause that's how it is)
3. Bob Marley: Natural Mystic (cause I always wanted to hear this song in this context)
4. Killah Priest off Liquid Swords: B.I.B.L.E. (just to bug out on knowledge being born)
5. Bob Dylan: Don't Look Back (to speak in 1965 terms)
6. Public Enemy: Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos (to wake em the phukk up!!)
Then, I'd be taken from the radio station to check my sanity and involvement in the communist party. I'd say "Oh, that party?... The homies rocked that shit too! PEACE to 1965!"
